Spalted Beech and Chrome Ballpoint Twist Pen
SPALTED EUROPEAN BEECH - Fagus sylvatica
Spalted Beech is European Beech which has been attacked by a fungus. It leaves incredibly beautiful patterns running through the wood. Spalted Beech can be softer than standard Beech, however the fungus is totally inert and will not affect the performance of the wood in any way. With an oil finish, it can turn golden yellow/brown.
This particular pen was turned on the 24th May 2015 opposite Shobnall fields in Burton On Trent. Where we had set up a floating market with fellow boaters from the Roving Canal Traders Association. We had another great day meeting lots of new customers and I even had a lovely gift of a wooden pen case from an appreciative lady. It made our day.
