Cherry and Chrome Ballpoint Twist Pen
CHERRY - Prunus avium
European Cherry has a rich reddish-yellow heartwood. It is generally straight grained, with a fine and even texture. It has a lot of knots. . Care must be taken when turning European Cherry to avoid tear-out. With an oil finish, European Cherry will turn a rich yellow/red.
This pen was turned on June 16th 2014 from a nice piece of Cherry that my timber supplier in Northampton cuts down from massive logs to planks and air seasons in open sided timber outbuildings. I used just a few coats of boiled linseed oil and cyanoacrylate to finish this pen to retain the warmth of colour and touch of the natural wood.
